Language course for international medical professionals – New courses starting in September 2025
Course Description
This certified intensive course is designed to prepare international medical doctors for the Medical Language Proficiency Exam (Fachsprachprüfung Medizin) in Germany, aimed at those seeking professional licensure (Approbation).
The course specifically prepares participants for the Fachsprachprüfung conducted by the German medical chambers, as well as the telc Deutsch C1 Medizin certificate.
The focus is on developing the language and communication skills doctors need for successful professional practice in the German healthcare system.
Special emphasis is placed on oral communication, as everyday medical practice in Germany involves in-depth conversations with patients, collaboration with colleagues in interdisciplinary teams, and medical documentation.
Funding through a Bildungsgutschein (education voucher) from the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) is possible.
Duration and Structure
- 13 weeks
- 20 teaching hours per week, plus self-study
- 260 total hours
- Online course, flexible with weekly modules
- Scenario-based learning focusing on patient communication, specialized medical vocabulary, and documentation
- Classes held on weekday evenings, starting at 5:00 p.m.
- Live video sessions take place on our learning platform
- Includes learning materials, including a textbook from Springer Verlag
- Case studies from all areas of medicine

Requirements for FSP Medicine
To participate in the specialized language course, the following requirements must be met:
- Completed medical degree abroad
- Application for professional licensure (Approbation) in Germany either submitted or planned
- German language proficiency level B2 (certified by telc, Goethe-Institut, ÖSD, or an equivalent certificate)
- Technical requirements for online learning:
- Stable internet connection
- Laptop or PC with camera and microphone
- Time for studying
